Smithfield Lions/Starr Motors Classic Car Cruz-In
Friday, October 3 from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Sentara St Luke’s, 20209 Sentara Way, Carrollton
This is a classic car show open to all and takes place every first, third and fifth Friday of each month, April through October 17. If you’re proud to drive it - we’re proud to show it! Show cars are asked for a $2 donation to Smithfield Lions charities (to assist vision and hearing impaired of our community) at the gate. Spectators are admitted free of charge. Bubba & Franks Bar-b-cue are the food vendor with plenty of picnic area to enjoy their fantastic food. This is a very family-oriented event all dedicated to helping the most needy within our community. Music provided by our DJ, Lion Tom Norris.

Firehouse Bluegrass Benefit Concert
Friday, October 10 at 7:30 p.m., Fire Station 10, 15020 Carrollton Blvd.

Proceeds benefit the all-volunteer fire/rescue service of Carrollton and nearby mutual aid districts in Smithfield and northern Suffolk. $5 admission. Your donations to this non-profit all-volunteer department serve the community by enabling the purchase of needed medical, rescue and fire fighting supplies and equipment. Hot dogs and soft drinks are available during the concert. Please bring your own chair.

Friday, October 10 from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Daniels Performance Group (Charlie Daniels Racing), 20128 IWIP Road, Smithfield
Daniels Performance Group (Charlie Daniels Racing) will be holding evening cruise-ins every second and fourth Fridays of the month April through October. Cruise-Ins are open to any vehicle you are proud to show. Food vendors will be From the Hearth Pizza and Rodman’s BBQ. The Smithfield VFW invites the community to a fund raising breakfast featuring "Salted Fried Herring Fish," scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, sausage gravy, biscuits grits, mixed fruits, coffee, juice, cornbread and omelets. Breakfast is held every 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month. The VFW building is located across from the Smithfield Library. Donation $8. All proceeds go to support Local Veterans and community projects.

13th Annual Hog Jog

Saturday, October 11, Race begins at the corner of Main and Commerce Streets in downtown Smithfield.

7:00 am: Registration opens (closes at 8:45)

9:00 am 5K and Wild Hog Run (Wild Hog runners only, please)

10:15 am Piglet Run (short run designed for children, may be less than 1K)

10:30 am Awards and PostRace Party, featuring Gwaltney hot dogs, soda and beer

This charity run is a challenging, family and community oriented 5K run/walk through downtown historic Smithfield and our beautiful Virginia countryside.The Hog Jog is a standard 5K the, Wild Hog is a mystery course, (4.0 miles this year), runners only. Whole Hog teams for groups of 10 or more, just $20 each. Awards will be given for age categories, all Piglet Run participants will receive an award, as will "Best Costume". Be creative! Souper Saturday

Saturday, October 11 from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in downtown Smithfield

Christian Outreach Program (COP) sponsors this community soup lunch to raise money to provide financial assistance for wintertime heating for those who may not otherwise have been able to afford it. Hundreds of people from local churches make large pots of soup, desserts and other dishes.

The Smithfield VFW invites the community to a fund raising breakfast featuring "Salted Fried Herring Fish," scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, sausage gravy, biscuits grits, mixed fruits, coffee, juice, cornbread and omelets. Breakfast is held every 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month. The VFW building is located across from the Smithfield Library. Donation $8. All proceeds go to support Local Veterans and community projects.

Walking Tour of Fort Boykin Historic Park

Sunday, December 20 at 3:00 p.m., 7410 Fort Boykin Trail, Isle of Wight

Fort Boykin has been a part of American history since 1623 when a fort known as the Castle was constructed to protect the Jamestown colonists from Native Americans and raiding Spaniards. Today, Fort Boykin remains essentially intact and constitutes a well-preserved example of military architecture of the Civil War era. Sunday's at Four presents  a Solo Youth Recital
Sunday, January 11 at 4:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 201 Cedar Street in downtown Smithfield
Solo Youth Recitalist Sterling Elliott, a 15 years old cellist from Newport News, and straight-A student at Menchville High School will perform a full recital at Trinity United Methodist Church. Sterling is the student of Virginia Symphony cellist, Mike Daniels, and the winner of numerous competitions and awards including an opportunity to study at the Perlman Music Festival in New York this past summer. A Free-Will Offering will be taken.

Ryan Clemens, a distant relative of Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) will present his one-man show impersonating the venerated American author and humorist. Ryan, a Virginia Stage Company resident artist, has worked in theaters throughout the country providing classes and workshops. He will be accompanied by Reg Lanning, a banjo player with riverboat experience, who will provide a special pre-concert at 3:30 pm and an interlude during the performance. A Sunday's at Four series performance. Tickets: Adults $20 Students $5.
